Hoi An’s Nguyen Tieu Festival recognized as National Intangible Cultural Heritage

The annual Nguyen Tieu Festival on the 15th of lunar January in Hoi An, central Quang Nam province, has been recognised as a National Intangible Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

At the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hoi An People's Committee Nguyen Van Lanh said that the typical value of the Hoi An’s Nguyen Tieu Festival embraces the convergence of Vietnamese, Japanese and Chinese cultures.

Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu said that Hoi An's honor of receiving the title of National Intangible Cultural Heritage is the State's appreciation and recognition for this heritage. Simultaneously, it is also the great pride of the Party Committee, the government and the residents of Hoi An City,  particularly those from all social classes who have made significant contributions to preserving the richness and diversity of the treasures of Vietnam's intangible cultural heritage.
