Accordingly, candidates must take two compulsory subjects, including Literature, Mathematics, and two elective subjects from the remaining subjects learned in Grade 12, including Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic and legal education, Informatics, and Technology.

In particular, the Literature exam is in the form of an essay. The remaining subjects are tested in multiple-choice format. The exam is held nationwide using the same topic, same test session, and same time according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Regarding the method of graduation recognition, the Ministry of Education and Training stipulates: Combining process assessment results and graduation exam results in a ratio consistent with the roadmap for implementing the 2018 General Education Program.

Regarding the roadmap from 2025 - 2030, the Ministry of Education and Training keeps the paper-based exam method stable. In the period after 2030, gradually pilot computer-based testing for multiple-choice test subjects in eligible localities (can combine paper-based and computer-based testing). When all localities nationwide have enough conditions, they will switch to computer-based high school graduation exams for all multiple-choice subjects.
